Today's Virgin Mary Chapel in Oberarth, also known as the Reding Chapel, was inaugurated in 1753 by Bishop Carl Josef Fuger of Konstanz. The widow of the murdered man, Anna von Reding, née Wagner, had a chapel built in 1467 on the spot where a Vorarlberg resident murdered Ital Reding the Younger, known from the old Zurich War.
